World's Most Expensive Car

This car makes Ferrari's and Aston Martins look like a bargain. Forbes magazine named it the most expensive production car on it's World's most expensive cars 2006 list.

The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 is currently the most powerful, most expensive, and fastest street-legal production car in the world.

The car is built by Volkswagen AG subsidiary Bugatti Automobiles SAS and is named after French racing driver Pierre Veyron, who won the 24 hours of Le Mans in 1939 for the original Bugatti company.

The Veyron uses a 16-cylinder, 1001-hp motor with a top speed of over 400 km/h (253.2 mph) and a €1,000,000 (US $1,192,057) base price.

The car was shown for the first time at the Tokyo Motor Show in 2005 and at the 2006 Los Angeles International Auto Show. Bugatti planned to build 300 Veyrons over five years.

Forbes magazine named it the most expensive production car on it's World's most expensive cars 2006 list.
