Oprah Gets YouTube Channel
Offering exclusive, behind-the-scenes footage from the "Oprah cam," Harpo Studios' green room, backstage highlights, and special guest moments -- the Oprah Winfrey channel on YouTube will bring unique perspectives to this ever-expanding international online community.
According to Harpo, one of the goals in creating the channel is to create a community around the program. By utilizing the already well established YouTube community, the hope is that interest in the show would increase, and fans would show more engagement.
"We are excited to be working with YouTube to provide another platform for people online to communicate with us and share in some of the one-of-a-kind experiences that occur behind-the-scenes at 'The Oprah Winfrey Show,'" said Tim Bennett, president of Harpo Productions.
On Tuesday, November 6, YouTube Founders Chad Hurley and Steve Chen will appear on "The Oprah Winfrey Show." The episode also will showcase many of the YouTube "stars" discovered by the community as well as personal updates about their newfound fame. Oprah also will be a guest editor for the YouTube community and a few of her favorite videos will be featured on the homepage starting Monday, November 5 through Tuesday, November 6.
The Oprah channel can be found at www.youtube.com/oprah.
