Roberts Johnson's Bob Cat plays inaugural season openner

Robert Johnson the founder of BET and the NBA's first black team owner watched his team, the Charllotte Bobcats, play their first regular game last night. "I think these guys are playing hard and they are playing tough."

" I think we have ourselves a team. I am looking forward to playing this way the rest of the season. So far, so good" Johnson said. "For the first half of this process, it is just business and it's about the organization. Now it's sport and that is the fun part. That is what I like and it feels great. Not just for me, but the city, the fans and the citizens of Charlotte. The people of Charlotte moved immediately after the other team left to build a new $265 million uptown arena and the support has been tremendous here in terms of ticket sales and sponsorships. I am delighted and pleased. If my players play as hard as the fans are supporting them, we are going to have a great organization."

Charlotte led by one after three quarters, but couldn't hold off a Wizards rally in a 103-96 loss Thursday.
