Bobcats shutting down regional sports network

The Charlotte Bobcats the NBA team owned by BET founder Robert Johnson have decided to shut down its regional sports network C-SET after less than a year on the air. Since it's launch the network has had difficulty attracting an audience and advertising revenue.
C-SET has lost more than $15 million since its launch in October 2004. Bobcats President Ed Tapscott said at a press conference Tuesday that financial deficits played a role in the decision to close the network, which signs off on June 30, 2005.
The Bobcats were hampered by C-SET because most fans in the Charlotte area were unable to watch the majority of the team's games on TV. Twenty of the network's 45 employees will lose their jobs but the remaining employees will be part of a broadcast division overseeing production and sales for TV and radio broadcasts.
Industry experts say the Bobcats suffered at the gate, in part, because the majority of games aired on C-SET and not free TV last season.
