Danny Glover Starts Movie Production Company

Glover the 58 year old co-star of "Lethal Weapon" setup this company to produce films of historical relevance with a social purpose, reports the AP. Louverture Films, co-founded with producer/screenwriter Joslyn Barnes and publicist Arnold Robinson, plans to produce six independently financed feature and documentary films over the next three years employing and training cast and crew from the African Diaspora, minorities and marginalized communities.

Mr. Glover will direct Louverture's historic action epic ``Toussaint,'' based on the Haitian Revolution of 1789-1804 and the life of Toussaint Louverture, a former slave who rallied blacks.

Mr. Glover joins a growing list of black entrepreneurs including, music mogul Damon Dash of Rocafella Records; Sean Combs, kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds and Oprah who own movie production companies.
