The Return of Damon Dash

Damon Dash former Roc-a-fella Records CEO has been in the press a lot as of late. Dash who has been relatively quite on the business front since parting ways with ex-partner Jay-Z seems to be in the process of rebuilding his empire.

His Damon Dash music group which recently signed a distribution deal with Koch Records, will released it first project from Jamaican dance hall legend Sizzla this fall. The Album titled "The Overstanding" is scheduled to be released on October 3rd, 2006, and will be marketed and distributed by DDMG / Kalonji Records.

Dash has also teamed with Tribeca Productions partners Robert DeNiro and Jane Rosenthal to produce a drama based on the life of convicted murderer, Larry Davis. At 19, Davis shot and wounded six NYC police officers and escaped despite being shot in the head. After eluding a manhunt for 17 days, Davis turned himself in to the FBI on the promise the feds would investigate local police corruption.

Dash will also work with producer Kevin Misher to produce a film about a female fight club in Brownsville, Brooklyn, where women fight for money.

He is also working with documentary makers Marc Levin and Richard Stratton to produce a film about Joe Stassi, a go-between for mob boss "Lucky" Luciano and Meyer Lansky.

Dash was an executive producer of 2004’s “The Woodsman” staring Kevin Bacon and the Cuba Gooding Jr. film “Shadowboxer.” Neither performed well at the box office.
