MV Transportation, Inc. Awarded $11 Million Contract

The Guilford County, North Carolina Board of County Commissioners has awarded an $11.4 million contract to MV Transportation, Inc., to manage and operate the county's Human Services Transportation program for Medicaid, Senior and Rural General Public.

Under the terms of the three-year, plus two-year option contract, MV will provide between 700-800 trips a day in a brand new fleet of 50 vehicles, including sedans, raised roof vans and body-on-chassis cutaway buses. While the County will schedule the trips, MV will be responsible for the overall operations and vehicle maintenance beginning August 1.

In addition, MV will install a video surveillance system on each vehicle to ensure safe operations, as well as to protect drivers, passengers and the County in liability situations surrounding an accident. Video footage also will be used as a training tool for all employees to promote better driving performance.

MV will implement a Paratransit Transition Committee to help keep the passengers, community, County and employees informed throughout the implementation process, and then ongoing throughout the life of the contract.

This contract represents MV's seventh contract in North Carolina. MV operates fixed-route and/or paratransit services in Charlotte, Durham, Greensboro, Lenoir, Raleigh and Salisbury.
