Court to Take Control of Death Row Records

Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Ronald M. Sohigian on Thursday March 23, ordered Suge Knight to appear at a hearing next month to discuss his assets or risk having the court take control of his Death Row Records.

The order was issued due to Knight and his legal representation's non-cooperative behavior with the court in revealing his finances.

Michael Harris' attorneys accused Knight of trying to evade his legal obligations by failing to show up for debtor examinations.

Suge has failed to attend three financial examinations relating to the case, and failed to show at last Thurdays hearing, which has led the Harrises’ attorney, Steve Goldberg, to say: "Enough is enough. It is time for a receiver and an order for contempt. There are rules of the court that should be obeyed and Mr. Knight is making a mockery of it."

knight has been embroiled in a legal battle against Lydia Harris, ex-wife of incarcerated drug dealer Michael Harris, and lost a judgment in court last year, resulting in a $107 million judgment in favor of Harris.

Attorneys for both Lydia and Michael Harris asked the judge Thursday to place Death Row Records in receivership if Knight doesn't appear at April's hearing.

Michael Harris, who is serving a 28-year sentence, is claiming half the award as community property in his divorce from Lydia Harris. He also says he put up $1.5 million from behind bars to help start the record label, a claim that Knight has repeatedly denied.
