Google Updates Its Video Service

Google is making it easier to upload and share videos on its site, hoping to better compete with upstart YouTube.com.

Google has changed the process of uploading videos to the service, no longer requiring users to download and install a special piece of software on their computers.

The time is takes for a newly uploaded video to appear on the site has also been reduce from 24hrs, Videos should now be available to share shortly after they are uploaded.

Google is trying to gain ground on San Mateo, Calif-based YouTube which had 12.5 million unique U.S. visitors in April, surpassing all other video services, according to Nielsen/NetRatings Inc.

Google's video service is ranked fourth with 7.3 million visitors, trailing MSN and MySpace.com
