MV Transportation Selected to Operate Anchorage, Alaska Paratransit Service

The Municipality of Anchorage has selected MV Transportation to operate the area’s ADA and other coordinated paratransit services beginning July 1.

Anchorage, Alaska – The Municipality of Anchorage has selected MV Transportation to operate the area’s ADA and other coordinated paratransit services beginning July 1.

Under the terms of the $12 million, three-year contract, MV will operate 45 vehicles and employ more than 70 employees. MV will use the Trapeze scheduling software, on-vehicle Mentor mobile data terminals and several MV-designed proprietary tools, including a passenger call system, to monitor on-time performance and service quality.

Also, MV’s driver training will include several hours of sensitivity training provided in conjunction with local disability and elder care advocacy groups and outreach centers.

“As a company that caters to the transportation needs of seniors and people with disabilities, we are firm believers that they are the experts in teaching sensitivity awareness,” said Kevin Klika, MV’s President of West Coast Operations, whose team of seasoned transit professionals will manage the contract.

Klika further stated that MV is excited about the opportunity to work with the Municipality of Anchorage, and promises to provide the community with professional service.

With this contract award, Alaska becomes the 27th state in which MV operates. Based in Fairfield, California, MV is the largest private provider of paratransit services and the largest privately-owned transportation contracting firm in the United States. MV employs more than 10,000 dedicated transit professionals.
