Nelly Expands Companies to South Africa

Rapper and entrepreneur Nelly has sign a distribution deal with a South African holding company Mojalife, that will see the of his companies expanding into that market.

The first product to be launched under the new deal will be the very successful energy drink "Pimp Juice," which sells over 2.4 million cans a month in the US alone. It will be available on retail shelves in South African on May 18. The South African Pimp Juice, though very similar in taste and look, will be carbonated to better match the taste preferences of the local market.

“ We have a very big year planned for Derrty ENT (record label), Apple Bottoms, and Pimp Juice,” Nelly explained. “I am very excited about the new pimp juice flavor coming out this summer, am continuously amazed by Pimp Juice and hip hop’s success overseas, and am very excited about visiting South Africa for personal and promotional reasons.”

"Pimp Juice" will be produced and manufactured in South Africa, with plans to supply Australia, New Zealand, Asia, and Israel.

"We have already pre-produced 1.5 million cans for South Africa and we are looking at producing between 1 and 1.5 million units locally every month. Another 3 million units will be going out into our international export market in Australia, Nigeria and New Zealand," Peter Friedman, creative director of Mojalife said in an interview.

"Pimp Juice" will pave the way for the launch of Nelly's Vokal and Applebottom clothing labels later in the year.

Nelly also plan to launch his Derry Entertainment record label in South Africa too.
