Rich People Take The Biggest Risk

By: Errol Mars

Ever heard the saying "It takes money to make money?" Well maybe you should get to know this saying, "It takes risk to get rich." According to several research papers release over the past several years, the wealthiest people in the world take the biggest financial risk.

Barclays Wealth along with the Economist Intelligence Unit found 60% of individuals with investible assets of $1 million or more said "a high appetite for risk has been an important influence in their wealth creation."

The Spectrem Group also released a report which found that 40%  of affluent investors with $25 million or more in assets describe themselves as aggressive in their portfolios.

Another important observation about the super rich is that most of their wealth come from one source. Bill Gates made his fortune from Microsoft, Warren Buffet made his from Berkshire Hathaway, Oprah made hers from her talk show, Russell Simmons made his from Def Jam and Robert Johnson made his from BET.

Another important point about these entrepreneurs is that they have been willing to risk it all on more than one occasion.

"Even in the face of intense financial market turmoil, investors with the most to lose are willing to roll the dice with risky investments," said George H. Walper Jr., president of Spectrem Group.
