Mitchell & Titus LLP, the largest minority-controlled accounting firm in the United States, has selected Anthony S. Kendall as CEO effective January 1, 2009.

Anthony S. Kendall has been selected to serve as the chief executive officer of Mitchell & Titus LLP, effective January 1, 2009. Mitchell & Titus is the largest minority-controlled accounting firm in the U.S. and member firm of Ernst & Global Limited. Currently, Kendall serves as the firm's vice chairman of client services and managing partner of the New York office.

The firm's founder Bert N. Mitchell, who has served as CEO and chairman of the board for nearly 35 years, will officially retire on December 31, 2008, but will remain chairman of the board until 2010.

"Tony has contributed immensely to the success of Mitchell & Titus and he is passionate about the firm and its mission. I believe he will lead the firm to great heights in the years ahead," said Mitchell. "We are truly fortunate to have a strong leader who is a home-grown talent fully ready to take over the reins."

Kendall has a 17 year history with the firm, having joined as a manager in 1991 from Arthur Andersen. He was admitted to the partnership in 1996, named New York managing partner in 2000, and appointed to vice chairman of client services in 2004. He also serves on the firm's executive committee.

"Bert Mitchell has been the face of Mitchell & Titus and has served as a supportive, charismatic and innovative CEO. He has taught me a tremendous amount about what it means to effectively lead a growing organization," said Kendall. "I am honored that our partnership has entrusted this role to me and I am excited about what the future holds for our people and clients."

Kendall is also a graduate of the Owner/President Management Program at Harvard Business School. He has an MBA in Finance and Taxation and a B.S. in Accounting from Binghamton University.
